Laura Hirca, Marriage and Family Therapy Trainee

Greetings! I'm Laura and I am honored to walk this healing journey with you, here at Kindred Heart Therapy.

As a trainee therapist at Kindred Heart, my passion is helping people reconnect with their inner strength, break free from limiting beliefs, and discover new ways to navigate life’s challenges. My approach is warm, supportive, and non-judgmental—creating a safe space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace.

I believe that healing is already within you—my role is to guide and support you as you uncover it. Whether you're looking to shift old patterns, gain clarity, or develop new coping skills, we'll work
together to explore what’s holding you back and find ways to move forward with confidence and resilience.

I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help reframe thoughts and regulate emotions. Play Therapy and Imago Therapy to support emotional expression and relationship dynamics. Mindfulness and trauma-informed techniques to cultivate self-awareness and grounding. Sound healing and somatic practices to support deeper emotional release and integration.

I offer telehealth sessions, making it easier for you to receive support from the comfort of your own home and I am also available to meet in person at Kindred Heart Therapy.

My Journey: Originally from Romania, I moved to California in 2007. After working in technical recruiting for 15 years, I felt drawn back to the healing arts and began exploring the power of sound, frequency and deep listening through the Sound Healing and Voice program at CIIS in San Francisco.

This journey led me to study with incredible teachers,  including Silvia Nakkach, Meredith Monk, and Kitka. I’ve explored shamanic traditions, meditation, and sacred sound practices across the world—from the pyramids of Egypt to the jungles of Guatemala and Mexico. In 2016, I co-created 2 Ancestors of Origin, an immersive art installation and ritual workshop in San Francisco, blending sound, movement, and ancestral wisdom.

My Philosophy: Healing is a journey of remembering—a process of reconnecting with the wisdom that has always been within you. My goal is to walk alongside you, offering tools, support, and deep listening as you uncover your own path toward healing and transformation.

I deeply resonate with psychiatrist and trauma researcher, Bessel van der Kolk’s words: “Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.”

No matter where you are on your journey, you don’t have to navigate it alone. With compassion, curiosity, and a deep belief in your capacity for growth, I’m here to support you in uncovering the strength and wisdom already within you.
